Why does my cat randomly meow?

So when my cat is alone or thinks she's alone, will start to randomly meow really loud for a long time contstantly. If I call to her, the meows get faster and she runs to me. I assume she is lonely or looking for me. But the weird part is, whenever she does this, she goes into my moms room where the sock basket is and take a sock in her mouth and bring it to my room and drop it down. Not even play with it! I find at least 2 socks in my room a day. Why does she do this?? Lol it's funny but so weird
