Siblings fighting for my attention?

My 5 year old daughter got a cut earlier and she cried and i picked her up and gave her boo boo a kiss like i always do, and my son who is 7 got a similar scratch and imitated her behavior but i didn't give him as much attention since hes a boy and older. He continued to cry and complain until i did the exact same thing to him. Is he doing this because he thinks i love his sister more? will this continue?
